TIPS FOR A MOVE WITH HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES

When you have to make a move, the appliances are usually the heaviest and largest, making it more difficult to move them. For this reason, the first thing we recommend is that you leave the removal of electrical appliances in the hands of removal professionals, this way you will avoid unwanted accidents and ensure that they arrive in perfect condition.

It is important to consider the size of the appliances, but you also have to know how to store and protect them during the move. Here are some guidelines to keep in mind to pack your appliances when you make your move.

1.SMALL ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE

Appliances such as blender, toaster, etc. They have a manageable size, so we can store them directly in boxes, but it is important to cover them with packaging material and try that the boxes are not too heavy to be able to transport them.

2.MICROWAVE

Wrap the turntable in bubble wrap to prevent it from breaking. Do the same with the cable, this way you will prevent it from getting mixed up with the rest of the cables in the move. The microwave can be transported in a padded box. Try to keep it away from very humid or high temperature places.

3.FRIDGE

It must be emptied and cleaned beforehand; therefore, we must unplug it at least 4 hours before. If it has a built-in freezer, we must defrost it at least two days before to ensure that it is dry and clean for the day of the move. We can fix the glasses and trays of the refrigerator with adhesive tape, although, if they are removable, we recommend you take them out and pack them separately with bubble wrap. During the move, the refrigerator will have to be covered with material that prevents scratches or bumps; blankets or bubble wrap, for example.

4.WASHING MACHINE

We must make sure to remove all the water from inside the appliances that use water, to avoid leaks during transportation. Be careful with the water evacuation hose and the connection cable to the light, we recommend that you fix them in place with adhesive tape. Like the refrigerator, we must wrap the washing machine with material that prevents scratches or bumps.

5.DISHWASHER

Make sure to empty the water inside completely, and fix the evacuation hose and the light cable at the back to avoid contact between them. Remove removable items like the cutlery tray or plate tray, or secure them with tape, so they don’t shift or break during the move. Finally, it will be necessary to wrap the machine with padding to prevent it from breaking or suffering chafing during transportation.
