8 STEPS TO ORGANIZE YOUR MOVE WITH STORAGE SERVICES

There are many occasions when we need extra space for our furniture and belongings, our best ally in these situations is the storage service. The advantages of the storage service are the large space they offer and the 24h surveillance of our warehouse.

These 8 steps will help you to have everything ready and organized for when you have to move.

1. TIME ORGANIZATION: To begin with, it is very important that you decide how much time and space you will need to store your belongings, and then, for how long will you need it.

2. FIRST SELECTION: You should not store everything you have at home! In this selection, you will have to decide what furniture and belongings you need to store, as volume is a factor that influences the price of the storage service.

3. CLOTHING: We accumulate so many clothes that sometimes we don’t know which we should take and which we should store. At CosFreight we recommend making a selection, and who knows, maybe you can donate the clothes you don’t use and get more space. As for storage, the easiest thing to do is to divide your clothes according to the season of the year in which you will need them.

4. PREPARE THE APPLIANCES: If you have to move the appliances and/or store them in storage, we show you how you should prepare them before your move. It is important to make sure that they do not contain water, batteries or electricity, to avoid unnecessary surprises.

5. FOOD: These are some of the things you don’t need to store in a furniture repository, as they can spoil and attract unwanted insects. Also, you will most likely need the food during the time you use the storage, so it would not be very practical to store it.

6. PACKING: Pack and protect all the objects with the necessary materials so that they are not damaged during the time they are going to be stored. If you do not know how to do this, you can leave it in the hands of the packing service.

7. INVENTORY: Once you have distributed everything you are going to store, we recommend you take an inventory, and it can also help to establish a classification method, so you will know exactly what you have stored and where to look for it once it is in storage.

8. DOCUMENTATION: At CosFreight we always recommend our clients to carry all their personal documentation with them (bank, medical, deeds, wills, titles…) You never know when you are going to need it, so we do not recommend leaving it in storage.

You have to bear in mind that storage allows you to gain space without having to get rid of your belongings, but there is no need to keep everything you have. Moving house is always a good option to select what we want in our new home, and what we don’t want in our new home.
